The “Department of Radiology 1895” hoodie combines classic collegiate styling with the heritage of medical imaging. The story behind the design — 23 January 1896

Röntgen gave exactly one public lecture on his discovery, to the Würzburg Physical-Medical Society. At the end of it he called the anatomist Albert von Kölliker up from the audience and radiographed his hand in front of the room. Von Kölliker, having seen his own bones, proposed the new rays be named after the man who found them. The society agreed by acclamation.

That is why they are still Röntgenstrahlen in German, why the emblem on this hoodie reads Röntgen, and why “X” — Röntgen's own placeholder for something he could not yet explain — ended up permanent everywhere else.
